- Abstract
- The situation of minorities in multinational States is relevant in the modern world. The problems of intrastate conflicts, national identity, preservation of national minorities'' diversity of material and spiritual culture belong to the issue of relations between State, titular nation and national minorities. The article deals with this issue using the example of relationship between the Chinese State represented by titular nation of the Han and the Naxi minority. This article describes main processes which were taking place in the PRC during the 1980-s in the public policy towards national minorities, that began to change the life of the Naxi after a series of shocks they had experienced during the previous decades.
