Abstract

The problems of abortion become an urgent topic of sociological research, and the forecasts of a decline in the birth rate and a decrease in natural population growth in a number of countries (including Russia) are beginning to come true. The main reason for the decline in natural population growth is abortion. Providing a woman with the right to freely dispose of the «function of her body», as well as the ideas of «planning» the family imposed on public opinion, firstly, do not correspond to the global trends in demographic development of world powers (China, India, USA); second, they contradict the national interests of Russia – the largest country of the world. The December (2017) decisions by V.V. Putin, aimed at stimulating the birth rate in the country, actualize the study of legislative foundations of law enforcement practice in the field of socio-demographic policy. The purpose of the work is to show the negative impact of liberal legislation and the decriminalization of articles of the Criminal Code on saving the population. The article examines main directions and analyzes some results in the field of family legislation, abortion is qualified as a socio-medical and demographic phenomenon, discloses the legal conditions for the artificial termination of pregnancy.
