Abstract
The first results of statistical testing of the main hypotheses of the theory of institutional matrices are presented. On the basis of cross - country analysis, a reliable relationship between the features of climatic conditions and the dominance of X-or Y-matrix institutions was revealed. The study was conducted using data mining methods that include principal component and optimal reliable partitioning methods, as well as a set of recognition methods. A sample of 65 countries was used. The matrix of analyzed features included 116 initial and 15 integral indicators. Discussed variants of calculations based on different combinations of features and different methods of partition analysis that take into account the nonlinear nature of relationships between features.
