Аннотация
В статье анализируются причины систематического завышения значений долгот в «Географии» Птолемея, в результате которого его карта оказывается растянута с запада на восток относительно современной. В частности, рассматривается гипотеза, набирающая популярность в последние годы, согласно которой это растяжение обусловлено изменением оценки окружности Земли: Птолемей отказался от оценки, предложенной Эратосфеном, в пользу меньшей, предложенной Посидонием, в результате чего все расстояния при пересчете из линейных единиц в угловые оказались пропорционально завышены. В статье показывается, с одной стороны, что эта гипотеза объясняет растяжение карты Птолемея только отчасти, а в ряде случаев не работает вовсе. С другой стороны, растяжение карты Птолемея можно в значительной мере объяснить систематическим завышением расстояний, лежащих в ее основе.
