- Abstract
- The article provides a description of a Koryak shaman's belt with an anthropomorphic rosette of an unusual shape. Similar artistic canons in cultures of native peoples of the North and analogous iconographies among northeastern Paleo-Asiatic peoples are examined. Drawing on field research among the Koryak of the Verkhnii Paren' village (Northern-Evenki district, Magadan region), the author shows that the sujet refers to the image of a child. She argues that there is a morphologically developed arrangement of age-gender statuses of anthropomorphic images in Koryaks' decorative and applied arts.
