Abstract
The author argues that the writing by Leonti Mroveli, "Chronicles of Kartli Kings", should be considered as consisting of two parts: the first part, in which Mroveli speculates on the causes of emergence of diverse languages in Kartli, as well as on the ethnogenealogical affinity of all peoples in the Caucasus, including nomads of adjacent areas; and the second part which is devoted to historical chronicles as such. The author demonstrates that the transition from the first part to the second one may be seen to occur in the chapter on the "Alexander's Invasion", and discusses the uses scholars may gain by analyzing the writing from such a viewpoint.
