- Abstract
- The article discusses the history of the search for a model of foreign economic development of ČSSR/ČSFR at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s on the materials of Russian and Czech archives. Until the early 1990s, Czechoslovakia had productive economic ties with the USSR. Their deformation forcedly occurred after the retaking of GDR to the Western economic structures. The potential of these ties could have been preserved, and the new political elite, which came to power in the ČSFR, did not deny that at first. In the future however, preference was given to politicised attitudes to economic expediency, which was also characteristic for the first years of the COMECON. Ideas of cooperation between the COMECON and the European Economic Community (EEC) had not been realized.
