- Abstract
- The article suggests a new approach to studying the social status and place in the church hierarchy of the famous old-Bulgarian translator of the turn of the ninth–tenth centuries Presbyter Gregory. A wide range of later analogies let come to the conclusion that the meaning of the text was misinterpreted: Gregory was not a monk, but a court archpriest, who was in charge of the churches in the prince’s domains and their clergy.
