Abstract

Eurasianism is the largest original intellectual movement among the Russian post-revolutionary emigration of the 1920s and 1930s, which retains its significance in our days. This article attempts to analyze the historical concept of Eurasianism by focusing on the original historiographic scheme of N.S. Trubetskoy, the intellectual leader of the Eurasianism movement, in relation to understanding the place of the history of Ukraine in the history of Eurasia. The principal novelty of the historiographic scheme of N.S. Trubetskoy is distinguished both to previous historiography and to the historical views of the other Eurasianists. The political conclusions drawn by Trubetskoy from his historiographical scheme receive a separate consideration, some inconsistency and inconsistency are noted, associated with attempts to directly combine the solution of tactical problems and fidelity to theoretical positions. In particular, the analysis of Trubetskoy’s historical scheme reveals the role of Gumilyov’s concept in removing the contradiction between the representation of Russian history as the development of a single historical subject and the Eurasian concept, which makes the interpretation center a large space with a volatile or multiple political subject.
