Abstract

The article is devoted to the relationship of the US President Donald Trump with the African-American community from the moment of his election in 2016 until the new presidential elections in 2020. The paper analyzes the factors that influenced the predominantly negative attitude of the black population towards the president, and also shows in detail the main measures of the White House Administration aimed at changing this trend. Particular attention is paid to the impact of such important events as the COVID-19 pandemic and the mass protests in summer 2020 on the relationship between the president and the African-American community. Finally, the article analyzes Trump’s attempts to raise his rating among black voters during the election campaign, as well as examines the results of the presidential elections.
