- Abstract
January 20, 2021 at 12-00 J. Biden took office, becoming the 46th President of the United States (2021–2025). On February 14, 2021, the US Senate voted to acquit Trump, falling short of the required 2/3 majority. 57 votes were cast for impeachment, including Democratic Senators and 7 Republican votes. The required 17 Republican votes were not collected.
Such a collision was created for the first time in the history of American parliamentarism, when the former president got into the history of preparing impeachment against him for acts that were admitted as inappropriate for the head of the country by the accused party. The fact itself reflects the peculiarity of the presidential race at its highest point of tension and prompts a close look at the new victorious president and his actions during the traditional first 100 days of administration, when, perhaps, the sprouts of social responsibility of the authorities in response to the support for the conquest of the highest leverage of it. The question arises: to what extent does effective social change depend on a motivated electoral base? Is the American political system capable of bottom-up structural reforms aimed at sustainable democracy?
