Вступая в должность, администрация Д. Байдена ясно дала понять, что Ближний Восток в значительной степени отойдёт на второй план в её внешнеполитической повестке дня. Однако партнёрам Америки в регионе пока непонятно, что это означает на практике, американские действия, похоже, не совпадают с намерениями. В этом исследовании анализируется исходная информация для понимания ближневосточной политики США по итогам первого года президентства Байдена. Использовался сравнительный анализ с целью оценки различий в подходах администрации Трампа и действующего правительства США к Ближнему Востоку. Определяются приоритеты Байдена в разрешении текущих конфликтов в Палестине, Сирии и Йемене, а также анализируется позиция США по возобновлению ядерного соглашения с Ираном. Утверждается, что Байден не смог выполнить свои обещания палестинцам, проводит двусмысленную политику в Сирии, не достаточно последовательно добивается прекращения войны в Йемене, настойчиво стремится вернуться к ядерной сделке с Ираном. С учётом этих соображений сделан вывод, что Байден будет избегать военного вмешательства на Ближнем Востоке, что может послать противникам Америки сигнал о том, что у них есть возможность расширить своё влияние в регионе.
