Аннотация

В статье прослеживается эволюция американских взглядов на концепцию «европейской обороны», которая существенно изменилась с послевоенных времён, когда она была наиболее близка к своей практической реализации. Сдвиги в глобальном балансе сил, деградация военно-политической ситуации в Европе, критика Белого дома по поводу НАТО, прозвучавшая в президентство Д. Трампа, и выдвижение концепции «стратегической автономности» ЕС актуализировали дискуссии в политических и экспертных кругах по обе стороны Атлантики относительно возможностей европейских союзников в обеспечении своей безопасности. Анализ этих дискуссий позволяет выявить противоречия между основными политическими течениями в трансатлантическом сообществе, которые существенно расходятся в оценке оборонных возможностей Европы.
