- В работе рассматриваются вопросы развития социологического подхода к изучению статуса, роли и функций животных в человеческом обществе. От классического представления Дж.Г. Мида о символическом неравенстве животных и людей социология эволюционировала к анализу сложных и разнообразных связей внутри межвидовых коммуникаций. В то же время непроясненность самой концепции зоонтологии и связанное с этим неудобное, внутренне противоречивое положение животных «на пороге» человеческого общества заставляют говорить о перманентной лиминальности «зоологической структуры» человеческой социальности и вытекающем отсюда целом спектре проблем социального признания. Выделяются этико-правовые модели гуманизации социального положения животных, а также более подробно анализируются проблемы онтологической атрибуции, субъектности и нормативного смещения в межвидовых коммуникациях, включая детскую и подростковую жестокость к животным в рамках социализации.
