Abstract

The article tells about events from the fi eld of lexicographical practice of the 1930s, associated with work on the famous «Explanatory dictionary of Russian language» edited by D.N. Ushakov. The author analyzes the facts and results of the evaluation of confl icting circumstances in the scientific debate of the time, introduces and comments on new archival materials.
