Abstract
In Russian culture, the tradition of opposing Moscow and St. Petersburg, the cold northern capital and the noisy, hospitable First See, is firmly entrenched. However, according to the observations of the author of the article, no matter how the perception of Moscow has changed over time, in most of the texts associated with the image of the capital, its feminine, maternal principle. Moscow appears in most of the texts like a mother city, a maiden city.
