- Abstract
- The article describes the main Islamic trends of the Karachay city district. Materials were collected that characterize the types of religiosity of Karachai people, trends in the religious life of Karachay were highlighted, and the specifics of interaction between traditional Muslims and representatives of the new Muslim movement were analyzed. The current religious situation in the Karachay city district is characterized by continuity in the sphere of Islamic tradition, but the search for a new religious identity in the aspect of interaction, and more often confrontation, tradition and innovation is not easy.
