Abstract

The article explains the reasons for the emergence of a new social class – the precariat, its structure and main characteristics. It shows the maturation of the idea of the precariat in the depths of scientific thought, in the world and domestic social practice. The main features of this class are identified and compared with other social groups. The article reveals the specifics of the precariat, its place and role in the modern division of labor, its position on the labor market, and the first sprouts of its awareness as a “class for itself”. The consequences of the existence and functioning of the precariat are clarified.
