- Abstract
- The article considers the professionalization of social work as an interrelated process of its formation as a profession and the formation of specialists as subjects of professional activity. The article presents the results of a regional study: an expert survey, interviews and questionnaires of specialists and managers of social protection and social service institutions in the Irkutsk region. The problems and contradictions of the formation of social work as a profession, as well as the causes are analyzed insufficient level of professionalism of social work specialists. It is proved that social work in the region was formed as a profession and has its main features. However, the lack of financial resources negatively affects its status and prestige in society, affects the motivation of employees.
