- Abstract
- The article analyzes the problem of social inequalities as one of the global problems of our time. It is emphasized that social inequalities have a natural-historical dimension, are reproduced in fairly stable forms as a reflection of the political, economic, cultural and normative structure of society, and therefore are immanent to all phases of the historical development of society. Inequalities are a specific form of social differentiation that determines differences in the living conditions of individuals and social groups and mediates different opportunities for satisfaction their actual needs and interests. Based on the materials of all-Russian studies in 2003 and 2013, the nature, causes, depth and features of social inequalities in post-Soviet Russia are considered, their main indicators and socio-economic factors are identified. The article analyzes the perception of Russians about fair and unfair, legitimate and illegitimate, as well as excessive inequalities. The author notes the destabilizing role of illegitimate inequalities as an obstacle to Russia's development.
