Abstract
The article is devoted to the problem of value orientations of modern Russian sociology. The author sharply criticizes the leveling of the role of the Russian state as a social institution by representatives of the liberal course and the cultivation of such values in society as egoism, cynicism, promiscuity, and the cult of consumption. The author substantiates the need for a strong Russian state, the formation of a unified national ideology or a system of higher values of society. The author defines the author's approach to the basics of Russian national ideology - political conservatism, strong state principles, respect for the historical past, and Orthodoxy. The author emphasizes the General goal for sociologists of the whole country-the formation of a sociological culture, which involves the development of sociological science and sociological education. In this regard, the educational function of sociology, aimed at the formation and development of the personality of professional sociologists, is of particular importance.
