- Abstract
- The parallels between Gogol's “Dead Souls” and Swift's “Gulliver's Travels” are drawn as between the works made in the Menippean satire genre. Specifics of travel as internal, conventional but not excluding literal understanding at some points present in both works are concidered. The images of reasonable horses by Swift and “the bird-coach-and-three” by Gogol are confronted.
