Abstract

The attempt is made to consider the phenomenon of thinking, its genesis and essence in the perspective of the “pure” natural science without reverting to ideas of philosophy or cognitive science. In such a perspective thinking appears to be a reaction of a living object to its environment. The continuous chain of stages of the increase in such a reaction sophistication, the consciousness being its highest stage.
