- Abstract
- The article discusses the question of studying the relics of beliefs, rituals, and cults of people of the South Aral Sea area; it employs the comparative historical approach to examine the relationship between the ancient beliefs and customs, and the traditional forms of economic activity, way of life, and social organization. The author attempts to analyze and systematize beliefs and customs related to the camel worship, which were preserved in mythology and folklore and were observed until recently among the people of the South Aral Sea area.
