- Abstract
- The article discusses the specificity of cultural interaction in ethnically mixed settlements of Ural-Povolzhie where the Muslim Tatar and Kriashen are present. Drawing on examples of their contact with the Udmurt, Mari, and Chuvash, the author delineates the levels of social-cultural adaptation: linguistic (polylinguism), religious (syncretism of traditional beliefs with Islam and Orthodox Christianity), ethnic-cultural (interpenetration of cultural elements), and over-ethnic.
