Abstract

The culture and history of the Don Cossacks over the period from the sixteenth to the early twenty first century is viewed in the article through the prism of the theory of social and cultural transformations. The author distinguishes four stages of the transformation process in the Don region and traces down the changes of the social and cultural model within the framework of each stage.
