- Abstract
- D.V. Gromov focuses on the styles of street self-representation of political organizations of the youth in contemporary Russia. Even though these styles differ substantially due to differences in political discourses among the youth alone, these styles are similar in that they entail a certain process of constructing a message or manifestation of extremism. The author analyzes strategies, tactics, and methods of self-representation through action, verbal expression, visual expression, etc. He demonstrates that activities of the youth in the framework of politicized subcultures can be analyzed as fit within the logic of age development; that is, these subcultures allow young people to fulfill their specific age needs.
