- Abstract
- The article draws on extensive field research among the non-settled Evenki of the Amur region and South-Eastern Yakutia. The author argues that rivers not only do facilitate spatial orientation, but also help to evoke the kinship of a social group in memory, as well as to imagine the world of spirits and to comprehend the life cycle.
