- Abstract
- The article discusses the present day state of one of the key institutions of the common law (Adat) of the Ingush. The authors analyze the factors that influence its partial revival (state and republican legal reforms, Islam revival and Sharia, the intensification of activities of so called conciliatory chambers). Special attention is paid to questions on what types of crimes can be settled peacefully and what not, as well as on the particularities of the object and subject of feud. The authors argue about the importance of blood feud as a powerful restrictive factor in the successful economic and cultural development of the Republic of Ingushetia.
