- Abstract
- In the spring of 1913, the armies of the Balkan League occupied fortresses Adrianople and Scutari. In Russia, this led to mass protest actions, especially in St.Petersburg. Taking into consideration international tension concerning the issues of the future borders of Albania, and who would own Scutari in particular, the Russian authorities, fearing of a sharp reaction of AustriaHungary, ordered forced dispersing of the political demonstrations. The article considers the course of events, reasons of the protesters and reaction of the society on the use of force.
