Abstract
On the example of the United States one of the modern trend of scientific and technological progress (STP) in the agricultural sector of the U.S. - biofuel production, as well as its impact on the food security of the country is considered. Bioenergy is the next stage of STP, along with mechanization, computerization and chemicalization. Although its impact on the agricultural sector of the U.S. at the beginning of the XXI century is just beginning to emerge, it is already an indubitable and significant. The work carried out qualitative and quantitative assessment of such influence. In this connection, an analysis of the structure of production, consumption trends and issues related to biofuel production is presented. Attention is paid to the promising areas in this direction of STP, in particular activity on the creation of the third-generation biofuels. In the past several decades, the US government plays a critical role as a catalyst for the introduction of the achievements of scientific and technical progress in the practice of agricultural production. Bioenergy is no exception. Therefore, the analysis focuses on how the state's role in the development of this direction of scientific and technical progress as a whole, as well as consideration of some specific elements of the state policy.
