Abstract
The article provides analysis of 2016 elections in the United States of America. It covers presidential elections, where the Republican candidate Donald Trump became the winner, and discusses the causes of the Republican victory and the defeat of Hillary Clinton, the candidate of the Democratic party. It also analyses the outcome of the Congressional elections in November, where Republicans were able to keep their majority in both Houses. The article also discusses the specific features on the election system of the Unites States. It also provides analyses of the future policies of president Trump in several areas: tax reform; economic infrastructure; protectionism; immigration problems; military budget, terrorism. It covers relations with China and Iran, American NATO allies, Japan, South Korea and the approach to Transpacific and Transatlantic partnerships, NAFTA, World trade organization. A special section of the article deals with possible prospects for Russian-American relations in the near future. The role of the new Congress is discussed, including the balance of power between Democrats and Republicans and possible scenarios of interaction between the White House and the Capitol Hill. The article also discusses the problems of formation of the new administration and the key appointments, made by Donald Trump.
